Best Bonus Offers For Travel Rewards Credit Cards February 2016

If you are in the market for a new credit card in 2016, and travel often, you should consider signing up for a credit card that offers a sign up bonus. These card offers usually come with a spending requirement to qualify for the rewards. Usually this requires you to spend a certain amount within a short time, from one month to three months. One of the more common spending requirements these days is to spend $3000 within 90 days of opening the account in order to receive the sign up bonus. Be aware that some of these credit cards come with an annual fee. If the annual fee is not waived for the first year, as many credit card offers will waive this fee for the first year, be sure to factor this into the rewards true value. For example if the sign up bonus is worth $300, but the card has a $95 annual fee which is not waived for the first year, the rewards actual value is only $205. In this case you might be better off with a different credit card that does not charge an annual fee for the first year.

Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card

This credit card offers a hefty 50,000 reward points sign up bonus, provided that you spend $4000 within 90 days of opening the account. While this is $1000 more for the spending requirement than many cards on the market today, the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card is a very good credit card to have in your credit card portfolio. The reward itself is worth $625 if you redeem it for travel expenses, making this sign up bonus very valuable. You can earn an additional 5,000 bonus points after you add the first authorized user and make a purchase in the first 3 months from account opening. You can also transfer these points on a 1 for 1 basis to to leading frequent travel programs at full value, making this reward a very versatile reward to have. There is an annual fee of $95, but this is waived for the first year. You earn double points when traveling or dining out, and 1 point per dollar on everything else.
